5 Prospects Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan Could Have Been Scouting at LSU vs Clemson

Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan was in the stands at Tiger Stadium on Saturday as LSU thrashed Clemson 51-10, one of just two NFL GMs in attendance for the primetime clash.

With Miami’s rebuild under Sullivan still in its early stages, the Dolphins used 13 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, and they’ll be looking to stockpile a similarly deep haul in 2027.

That means plenty of eyes on college football’s biggest matchups this season — and LSU vs Clemson offered no shortage of names worth watching. Here are five players Sullivan could have been keeping tabs on.

Sam Leavitt, LSU, quarterback

Malik Willis is the starter in 2026 and is likely to be the starter in 2027 as well.

There’s a world in which he has the keys to the franchise in 2028 and beyond, should he play well and the regime builds around him.

But that won’t stop this front office from doing their due diligence and they would have liked what they saw from Sam Leavitt on Saturday night.

The quarterback finished with 343 yards and a touchdown in the air and an additional 113 and two on the ground.

He did throw an interception on his second throw of the game but the dual-threat QB recovered well.

Miami are likely to finish with a top five pick in the next draft and Leavitt may not be the selection early on night one.

But moving back into the first to select him or top of the second may be an option if he continues to play like this and the board falls a particular way.

Jordan Seaton, LSU, tackle

Primarily a left tackle, it seems odd Miami would be looking at Jordan Seaton given they have Patrick Paul on the roster and drafted Kadyn Proctor last year.

But Proctor, a left tackle in college, will kick inside to play left guard as a rookie and could move to right tackle down the line.

The Dolphins are in dire need of a right tackle, with Austin Jackson unable to stay healthy since being taken 18th overall in 2020.

Flipping Seaton wouldn’t be shocking, should Sullivan draft him next year. Neither would kicking him inside to LG and moving Proctor to RT to solidify the line for years to come.

Ty Benefield, LSU, safety

Ty Benefield opted to remain in college and turned down an opportunity to enter the 2026 NFL Draft.

Prior to transferring to LSU, he racked up five interceptions and two forced fumbles during his time with Boise State.

At 6 ft 3, 205lbs, he has the speed, instincts and frame to be a difference maker at the next level.

A player who could fall to the second due to the position he plays, the need at safety could see the Dolphins pick him up and be a difference maker.

Will Heldt, Clemson, defensive end

Will Heldt finished last season with 7.5 sacks and picked up a TFL in the heavy defeat to LSU on Saturday night.

The Dolphins will need someone on the opposite side of Chop Robinson going forward and though Heldt is a player likely to hear his name on Day 2 of the draft, but could sneak up into the first if he has another year like he did in 2025.

At 6 ft 6 and 260lbs, he is a player to keep an eye on – especially when he’s been likened to the Bosa brothers by Clemson teammate Jahiem Lawson.

Ashton Hampton, Clemson, cornerback

Second play of the game and Hampton came up with an interception, taking advantage of a bad throw from Leavitt.

Not CB1 in the class but likely to hear his name called on night one, Hampton may find his future will not be in Hard Rock unless he falls into the second or Miami find a way to have multiple firsts.

A corner you can leave on an island, at 6 ft 2 and 200lbs, he has the range and length that would compliment what Hafley wants to run.

Then there’s the fact Hampton is explosive downhill thumper in the run game.

That his stock didn’t drop despite his side being humilated says a lot about Hampton as a prospect.
