What you need to know:
The Miami Dolphins travel to U.S. Bank Stadium to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4. Jeff Hafley’s side is still looking for its first win, and all three of Miami’s losses have been by double figures. Miami lost 27-13 at the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 and 35-14 to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. In Week 3, the Dolphins lost 24-10 at home to the Kansas City Chiefs, and stayed within one score until the final minutes.
The bigger concern for Miami is the running game. Running back De’Von Achane tore his ACL on the opening series against the Chiefs and will miss the rest of the season. Ollie Gordon II took over and carried 17 times for 41 yards and a three-yard touchdown. Quarterback Malik Willis completed 20 of 36 passes for 210 yards with one interception, lost a fumble, and led the team with 56 rushing yards. Through three games he has 627 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
Minnesota arrives 3-0 and leads the NFC North. The Vikings opened with a 39-22 win over the Green Bay Packers, scoring the final 29 points after trailing 22-10 late in the third quarter. Carson Wentz started Week 2 while Kyler Murray was in concussion protocol, and Minnesota won 9-3 at the Chicago Bears in wet conditions. Murray returned for Week 3 and went 15 of 29 for 168 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the 23-16 win at Tampa Bay.
The Vikings have won through defense and special teams more than offense. Minnesota entered Week 3 with the league’s 32nd-ranked offense, and special teams accounted for 16 of its 23 points against the Buccaneers. That included an 86-yard punt return touchdown by Myles Price. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson left that game in the first quarter with a right ankle injury and did not return. His status for Sunday had not been confirmed when this was written.
